2008 Scovie Award Winners!
2008 Scovie Awards was held early this year. It is the largest and most prestigious annual contest for fiery foods and barbecue products. Collectors, hot sauce fans, connoisseurs and judges gathered in Albuquerque, New Mexico for the annual Scovie Awards. There were 783 entries this year and a panel of 80 judges that made it possible to finish in one day. Since the contest started, this year has the largest number of judges.
The largest category this year was the Hot Sauce, Habanero with 41 entries. Lizards on the Bayou – Gila Venom Habañero Sauce won the first place in that category. Need the Heat is one of those who are selling this product and we're proud of it. That is not the only award winning product that they we're offering though. Some of these products are the Big Bob Gibson – Champion Red, Big Bob Gibson – Backyard Mustard, Miss Anna's Hot Pepper Sauce and the Three Hot Tamales – Cry Baby Hot Sauce.
There are other products that have placed a slot in the finals are the Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Q Seasoning and Dry Rub, Anchor Bar Suicidal Wing Sauce and Csigi Salubrious Savina. All of these products are offered by Need the Heat.

The Big Bob Gibson – Champion Red has won three times already in consecutive years. The Big Bob Gibson - Backyard Mustard, according to the National Barbecue Association and Chile Pepper Magazine, is the "best mustard barbecue sauce" available. You can expect the best from the product that won first price against 40 other products, which is the Lizards on the Bayou – Gila Venom Habañero Sauce. The other products that had acquired an award with their respective categories are top notch none the less, like Miss Anna’s Hot Pepper Sauce and Three Hot Tamales – Cry Baby Hot Sauce.
Most of the products that had won will also be available at the sold out 2008 National Fiery Foods & Barbecue Show in March at the Sandia Casino & Resort in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This will be the third year that the show was held at this venue. Major network affiliate stations in the area attended the show in the previous years, interviewing manufacturers and videotaping dozens of products. The show has also been covered by major newspapers such as The Wall Street Journal and the San Francisco Chronicle. This will be a great opportunity for you to experience award winning products.
